Luke 18:42-43—Jesus said to him, receive your sight; your faith has healed you. Immediately, he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God. |

Many people with the same disease that affects me have their vision impaired or sometimes completely lost. I am grateful that my vision has not been negatively affected by MS. (My only vision issues are age-related. I just got my first prescription for reading glasses. My optometrist’s professional diagnosis: It’s a 40’s thing. Thanks, Doc.) The blind beggar in Luke’s story was chastised for calling out to Jesus for healing. The blind man was undeterred, however. He continued to call out to Jesus, referring to Jesus as the Son of David, and begging for mercy. |

Jesus gave the man eyesight. Yet, the blind man had “seen” what others had not been able to see even before he gained sight. The blind man had seen that Jesus was the true Messiah. We know this because he called Jesus the Son of David. Even Jesus’ closest disciples did not fully recognize His true identity. When the blind man was given sight He praised God. Others then gave God praise. As beautiful as God’s creations are to behold, what the blind man could already “see” is even greater. The amazing gift of eyesight we have in our earthly life is miniscule in comparison to the gift of grace through Christ our Lord and the sights we are promised in eternity with Him. Jesus blessed the beggar because of his faith. The beggar, in turn, praised God. Then others praised God. Do I persistently call on Jesus for my needs? Or do I allow others to deter me from continuing on my path toward Jesus? Do I give God praise for the daily miracles that occur in my life? Am I a witness to others, sharing my knowledge and love of Jesus? |

Dear Father God, thank you for your daily miracles. Thank you, above all, for Jesus Christ. Amen |
