Be Happy With What You Have
Paul McGuire
Listen
Luke 21:33 – “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
Inquire
I struggle with this disease called stuff-itis. It’s an affliction of the central nervous system that causes me to want more and more. It is brought on by seeing what others have and exposure to creative, clever marketing that makes me think I need whatever it is they are selling. It creates this overwhelming feeling that whatever I have simply isn’t good enough.
Faith
This verse reminds me that the things of this world are temporary. Whatever I come to acquire on this earth has no value in Heaven. In fact, it pales in comparison to the riches that await me in eternity. It is the rock of Christ Jesus that is the only firm foundation on which to build my life. He isn’t impressed at all by what I drive, where I work, or how much money I make. Ultimately, material possessions will never fulfill and satisfy like a real relationship with Jesus can.
Experience
Father, help me to be content in what I have. We are truly blessed, and we thank you for your Word as our guidebook through this life. Help me carry your words in my heart as I go through the day. Amen
