“Grace, It Really is Amazing”
Cindie Jenkins
Listen
Acts 15:11—No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.
Inquire
The above verse begins with a commanding “No!” The exclamation mark is a warning to listen carefully, as something important is being said. It doesn’t really even matter that prior to that “No!” the Jews had been arguing that the Christian Gentiles needed to follow all of the Jewish laws, the response is an emphatic “No!” What comes after the “No!” does really matter, a lot! (Notice the “!”) It is not adherence to the law that saves us; it is the grace of our Lord Jesus! (Again, the “!”)Yes, God wants us to follow His commandments, but once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit takes up residence in us, we will begin a lifestyle that becomes more reflective of God’s laws.
Faith
The Mosaic laws had been a yoke that the Jews could not bear, yet they wanted to place that yoke on the Gentiles. I bet the Jews who accepted Jesus as the Messiah were thankful for His saving grace. Our God knew we are imperfect beings unable to keep to His laws at all times, so in an incredible act of love sent His only Son to atone for our sins! It’s not just a great song; it really is amazing. Grace!
Experience
Father God, thank you for your incredible love and your amazing grace through Christ our Lord. Amen
